Addiction is a complex disorder that can lead to serious consequences in an individual. Some of these aims in the gaming addiction seminar included:

  • Increase awareness in participants who currently have a gaming addiction

  • Offer support helplines to let participants know of the respective social support groups out there that can help them

  • Understand the addiction cycle

My team implemented this activity to see what most of our participants cause them to have an addiction in gaming

As seen, we concluded that stress is the main trigger to them

We encouraged our participants to be involved in other hobbies apart from their unhealthy gaming habits.

We gave them potted plants of applemint to encourage to cultivate a habit of taking up gardening instead.

It's been nothing but an eye-opening experience to be the planner of the programme for my group's assigned addiction seminar. I was in-charge of the programmes of the seminar and it was a slight challenge for me to plan up a 30 minutes seminar and to make it engaging for our audience at the same time. Having an events management background indirectly help me have a clearer head to plan out the programme.

As a healthcare professional at the moment, I've learned through this experience that "Prevention is better than cure." Hence, it is my biggest encouragement to our audience that as nurses we make sure that they want to prevent their symptoms from being aggravated as it can lead to dire consequences.

With strong communication skills that I possess, I believe I am able to encourage my participants to care more for their mental health and upon applying my skills to my current workplace, I will encourage my paediatric patients to care more for their health
